Julie Brook Made Unmade exhibition workshops Dunoon Burgh Hall
May 22, 2014
Pupils from Tighnabruich primary school visited the Dunoon Burgh Hall to see the Julie Brook exhibition, Made Unmade, which had previously been shown at the Dovecot in Edinburgh. The exhibition features large scale video installation and pigment drawings Brook made in Scotland and in Libiya.
The pupils went outside to explore and draw the environment surrounding the Burgh Hall, looking at the textures of buildings, pavements, and the wee park. Using chunks of raw sienna and powdered burnt sienna pigments (that I had brought back from Provence many years ago, great to see the pupils use them with such enthusiasim), combined with conte sticks, white chalk and charcoal, the pupils made A6 postcard scale drawings.
The drawings will be exhibited at Dunoon Burgh Hall as part of the Crofting Connections Exhibition.
