Coloured Sand and Spice painting at Glasgow Green with Spanish artist Consuelo and the Project Ability Saturday Family and Friends group.
The weather was amazingly warm and sunny today so we decided to work outdoors at Glasgow Green, just down the road from Trongate 103. It was so good to work outside the art workshop, in the fresh air and sunshine with the life of the park going on around us.
Large scale drawings were made of fantastic creatures and huge patterned mandalas, inspired by Aboriginal, Native American and Oriental sand painting.
The spices Cote brought along spices which created another sensory dimension to the artwork, with the wonderful aromas and rich deep coloured pigments, (turmeric and paprika proving to be favourites). The florescent coloured sand looked like spray paint on the pavement.
Each participant enjoyed the experience of working outdoors and creating a transient piece of artwork which will be washed away by the wind and the rain.
